Three Tralee locals, Linda Cavanagh, Claire Flahive and Liam O’ Sullivan have been recognised with a ‘Contribution to Pet Care Award’.
The awards were created by Irish-owned pet store, Petmania as part of its 15th-anniversary celebrations. The pet retailer took the opportunity to recognise some of its long-standing team members with an award and thank them for their years of service and their contribution to the development and success of Petmania.
Petmania’s HR Manager, Rachel Norton and Operations Manager, John Timmins visited each Petmania store to present the award winners with the accolade.
Rachel explains,
“Since we began 15 years ago Petmania has gone from strength to strength as we have grown from a small pet section within our Garden Centre in John Street, to being Ireland’s leading pet experts and the number one dog groomers in the country. We couldn’t have gotten here without the commitment from everybody, in the stores, the warehouse and the support team. I had the wonderful opportunity to present some well-deserved awards to the dedicated individuals who have been with us since the start, including Linda, Claire and Liam, whose expertise and commitment is key to our ongoing success.”
The three delighted locals have been recognised with a Contribution to Pet Care Award from Petmania.
Linda Cavanagh is the Store Manager in Petmania Tralee. Linda is from Kerry and has worked in Petmania Tralee for over 13 years. She is a human companion to two black Labradors, an African grey parrot, chickens and pound fish. Linda oversees the day-to-day running of the Tralee store and grooming studio.
Linda commented,
“Our job is unique because we have such a variety of customers who bring their lovely pets in the store and that makes the job very interesting and we hear such lovely stories from customers about themselves and their pets”
Claire Flahive, the assistant manager in Petmania Tralee, has worked in the store for 13 years. Claire is originally from Kerry and loves to spend her downtime with family and friends or enjoys walking along the beach or in Ballyseedy Woods.
Claire said,
“It’s such a great feeling when we get back positive stories of how our recommendations and advice has helped someone’s pet health or behaviour. It’s also a plus to be able to get a few furry cuddles throughout the day”
Liam O’ Sullivan is a pet care adviser in Petmania Tralee. Liam is also from Kerry and has worked in the Tralee store for over 10 years. As a pet care adviser, Liam’s job has a lot of variety including sales, advising customers on their pet care needs or maintaining the fish tanks instore.
Liam told us,
“What I like about working at Petmania is that there is always something to do and it’s nice to meeting customers’ pets.”
Petmania continues to develop its in-store services. The newly renovated Petmania Tralee is a state of the art space for pets and pet parents to enjoy. The new store layout and grooming area inside the store offers the same great service with a fresh new look, and a brand new, spacious Dog Grooming Studio. Petmania Tralee, currently employs 12 people, and are expanding their team in-store at Manor West Retail Park. If you would like to join the team at Petmania Tralee, they are currently recruiting for full and part-time dog groomers. Applications are being accepted from both fully qualified, experienced groomers, and those with a Level 5 Fetac in Animal Care who are looking to develop their career as Professional Dog Groomers.
Petmania also provides new ways for customers to access expert pet care advice. For example, the Pet Care Advice Centre is a free online resource with contributors including vets, agility trainers and other pet care specialists.
Rachel concludes,
“We are looking forward to opening further stores and continuing our refurbishment programme for our current outlets over the coming year and would like to thank our store teams and loyal customers for their support over the past 15 years.”
