Plans are well underway for a weekend of celebration on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th November, to mark the 10th birthday of Manor West, the Award Winning shopping centre, hotel complex and retail park in Tralee. Manor West, developed and owned by Tralee business family, the Boyles, and under the careful stewardship of Centre Manager Derek Rusk since it first opened in 2001 has much to celebrate. Manor West is consistently placed in the top three of shopping centres nationwide, attracting the best national and international brands; employing over 800 people and attracting over 90,000 shoppers weekly.

Birthday activities and events, all free of charge for shoppers will have something for absolutely everyone - from catwalk fashion to catwalk pets, competitions to celebrities, clowns to chefs - it will be a weekend full of entertainment, surprises and giving back to the centre’s thousands of loyal shoppers.

One of the highlights of the weekend will be The Style Squad with Brendan Courtney which will take place on Saturday 5th November. Fresh from the popular RTE 1 Style Show “Off the Rails”, Brendan and his team will be on hand to meet the shoppers, giving styling hints and tips for the Autumn/Winter season. A fully ramped catwalk fashion show will showcase the extensive shopping proposition within the Centre, including fashion and lifestyle brands such as Debenhams, Next, TX Maxx, Paraffin, Mothercare, Paco and Lifestyle Sports. Also taking to the runway will be some of the best of Kerry based fashion designers.

Derek Rusk, Centre Manager who has been with Manor West from the very beginning stated “In addition to celebrating the 10th anniversary, we will be unveiling a new look to Manor West. As we look forward to the next 10 years for Manor West we wanted to give the Centre a new identity – a breath of fresh air, vibrant, colourful, confident and one which I hope will appeal to all our shoppers.”

“ We will also be using the occasion to launch a Multi-Store Gift Card that can be purchased in First Chapter at the Centre and used in any of the stores on site, including of course Manor West Hotel.”

The very first Manor West €1,000 Gift Card will be unveiled by Brendan Courtney on the 5th November and will be presented by Brendan to the Manor West Charity of the Year 2012. Public voting for the shortlisted charities commences this week through the Manor West facebook page and one local charity will benefit by as much as €20,000 during 2012.

Other activities during the weekend include special appearances by the Fanzini Brothers on Sunday with lots of children’s activities from “A Time to Party” over the two days with face painters, balloon artists and magicians. Also on Sunday there will be Cookery Demonstrations by Manor West’s Executive Chef Bart O’Sullivan and “Just Cooking” Chef Mark Doe. Even shoppers pets won’t be left out, as Petmania are organising a competition to find the most stylish pet, with a special “Pet Parade” on the catwalk!

Derek added “Every day we are adding more and more to the activities. The response from all the retailers has been great and there are many more events and activities in the planning stages which will be announced over the next few weeks.
